Surviving the Pandemic

Some of you have asked how we made it through the global pandemic the last few years. I wish we could say it was easy, but that would be a lie. Like most small businesses it was a struggle and we lost a lot of business due to restrictions. We had to be creative with how to get business. These are a few ideas we came up with.

Themed Weekends:

We thought it would be fun to make special events on some weekends, to give guests a different experience. We tried a Halloween themed weekend, where we dressed up in costumes, and encouraged guests to come in costume. We baked cookies, decorated the hotel, came up with some games for the whole family, and planned some movie nights. Unfortunately this didn’t take so well as restrictions tightened, and lots of the activities we planned were no longer allowed. These may make a comeback, with different themes and ideas, but it will also depend on how popular they become. 

Long Term Stay Rates:

There were quite a few requests for people needing a room for a month or two. This was either due to moving, or circumstances that meant they needed to be out of the house for a while. So, we played with our rates to offer these guests a good deal. Not only did we receive a lot of good feedback from guests who stayed long term, but we made some great relationships with these guests. We like to think we treat our guests like family, and I think we did just that with a lot of our long term stays. 

Jacuzzi Suites:

Because of restrictions, we had to close our hot tub room for a while. This made our Executive Suite, which was the only room with a jacuzzi tub, quite popular. So, we added one to our Junior Executive Suite. The popularity of these two rooms kept growing, and because they filled up so quickly, we knew something had to be done. So, we made two more Jacuzzi Suites on the main floor. These rooms continue to be our most booked rooms. 

Packages:

As thankful as we are for the bookings in our jacuzzi rooms, this did mean that other rooms were not as sought after, so we had to think of a way to promote those rooms as well. So, in February of 2022 we kicked off our first package: The Romantic Package. Available to purchase with any room, perfect for a couple wanting something to make their stay extra special. This is our newest idea, and it’s still unfolding as we are putting the finishing touches on some other packages. You’ll definitely want to keep an eye out for those in the near future. 

Overall, It’s been a rough few years, but we continue to do our best to give you a great experience, whether you’re coming for work, or with family, for an anniversary, or birthday, or just needing a night away. We will never stop trying to improve our hotel, and your experiences here at the hotel. Some ideas may not work out, and others will thrive, but we will never give up.
