Goodbye Summer Hello Fall

Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall

Summer is coming to an end. What does this mean? Parents rejoice as their kids head back to school. Kids begin the countdown to Christmas break. Leaves start turning beautiful colors of orange, red and yellow. Ladies flock to coffee shops for pumpkin spice lattes and men get in those last rounds of golf before hunting season begins. Fall is around the corner.

For those of us in Steinbach and the surrounding area, we may be wondering what to do now. Back into the daily grind, we might want some fun things to do with friends, family, or even on our own. But what? Here are some ideas.

Fall Hikes:

Fall is such a beautiful season filled with so much color. You may have to bundle up a bit more than in summer, but that could be a good thing. Cooler weather means less bugs. Grab a camera and a friend, or go alone, and check out the many trails that Manitoba has to offer us. See our previous blog titled “Take a Hike: Hiking Manitoba” for some ideas.

Mennonite Heritage Village:

The Mennonite Heritage Village is a great place to visit, or celebrate a wedding. Fall is no exception. From hearty food, to music, to pioneer demonstrations, there’s something for everyone to try out during Fall on the Farm.

Sunset Goose Flights:

This magical sight happens late September and into October. Head over to FortWhyte Alive in Winnipeg for this incredible sight. A great way to teach your kids about migration, and see the fantastic sight of many geese flying off into the sunset. Don’t forget your camera. Bird lovers can also check out White Water Lake to see a large variety of birds.

Corn Maze/Haunted Forest:

This one’s a classic and if you have never gone, make this the year that changes. Test your courage as you wander through the Haunted Forest and face all sorts of freaky sights and sounds. If haunted isn’t for you, why not check out the corn maze and see if you can make it all the way through. Both activities are great to try with a group, so grab your friends and check it out for a fun evening activity.

Harvest Moon Festival:

This Winnipeg Festival is 3 days of music, workshops, and so much more. They even offer an online experience if you can’t attend in person. Check it out September 16-18. Go for 1 day, or check it out for the whole weekend. Great to do with friends or family.

Night out:

Last but certainly not least, for this blog at least, is a night out. Go out for a nice dinner and spend a night with us. Check out some of the packages we have from a Romantic Package to help with that special night for two, to our Girls Night Starter Packs for a get together with your closest girlfriends. Soak in our spacious hot tub after a day outdoors to chase the chill away before settling in for a good night’s sleep and wake up to a delicious hot breakfast, served by our wonderful staff in our breakfast room.

Fall doesn’t have to mean we have to begin to hide away. We did enough of that these last two years. Let’s get out and explore, spend time with those we love, and make memories to last a lifetime.
