Our Favourite Christmas Recipes

It’s nearly here. The most wonderful time of the year; Christmas! In the past we have shared how we can make Christmas special for others. And yes, that is important and we should still try to reach out to others this season.

This year, we thought we would do something a little different for our Christmas blog. I reached out to the staff and they have agreed to share some amazing recipes with all of us. So, if you’re looking for something delicious to eat this Christmas, why not try some of our favourite Christmas recipes.

Breakfast

Let’s start this day off with a wonderful breakfast. If you were at our Gift & Getaway weekend in November, this one may look familiar. This entry comes courtesy of Stephanie, who made the delicious special breakfast for those who got the package. It’s called Brunch Lasagna. She thought brunch is wonderful and lasagna is delicious. So, when she found a recipe that combined the two, she thought it was a great idea. This delicious lasagna replaces the pasta with shredded hashbrowns, the meat sauce with eggs and breakfast sausage, and then the cheese brings it all together. Because this one is not her own recipe, Stephanie shared the link for this delicious meal so that the creator of the recipe would get the credit for it. So, if you want to give it a try, here’s the link. She says it definitely belongs on the list of our favourite Christmas recipes and we really can’t argue with her.

Is that too much work?

Our next entry might make your day a little simpler. It comes from Stephanie’s husband, our maintenance man, Fern. He’s a busy guy, so having something simple works great for him. But, simple doesn’t have to mean bland. He enjoys a good cinnamon roll for breakfast. I know, that’s not simple. It is if you use the Pillsbury Cinnamon buns. Easy, quick, and delicious. That is why it made it onto the list of our favourite Christmas recipes.

Want Dessert?

Melissa gets very excited for desserts at Christmas. Let’s be honest, who doesn’t find room for all the delicious desserts during the holidays? There are so many delicious things to eat at this time and one of those, according to Melissa, is called Chocolate Turtle Thumbprint Cookies. Picture this: chocolate cookies rolled in chopped pecans with a caramel filling and melted chocolate drizzled on top. Are you drooling yet? Want to try it? Melissa was kind enough to share the link with me, so I’ll share it with you.

More Yummy Desserts

Robyn was also excited about Christmas desserts. She says one of her favourites are clod hoppers. “6 cups golden graham or similar cereal, 1 cup nuts and 2 cups of melted chocolate. Mix together, spread on a cookie sheet, and place in the freezer till set. Then break into pieces and enjoy.” Simple and delicious. The perfect combo for the busy season.

For the last few years we at Roadhouse 52 Inn & Suites have started our own tradition. On Christmas day, any guests staying at the hotel who have nowhere to go get fed a homemade Christmas dinner.
